The national agricultural equipment industry is invited to use components produced by MSMEs

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises have encouraged the national agricultural equipment industry to use components made by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo stressed the need for all stakeholders, especially the domestic agricultural equipment industry, to commit to buying and using domestically produced products to boost development national economy.

Using domestically produced products can also demonstrate that Indonesians are capable of producing sophisticated technologies, he said.

“I completely agree with the statement of the president on questioning the need to import products when we can manufacture them ourselves. Indeed, the product will not be as good as the jet pumps Japanese-made pumps they’ve been designing for years, but if we don’t use our jet pumps, we’ll never know how to improve on it,” Limpo noted in his statement received here on Friday.

The Minister affirmed that Indonesia is one of the most resilient countries in the face of the economic fallout triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, as it has managed to maintain the inflation level at 2.64%, as opposed to the high inflation of 61.14% recorded by Turkey and an inflation of 7.9% recorded in the United States.

“We must act in unison when it comes to the agricultural sector, because each country has its own economic problems. The United States, which has had no inflation in the past, currently has inflation of 7.9% Other countries, such as Turkey, Argentina, the Netherlands and Russia have all experienced high inflation,” Limpo pointed out.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Teten Masduki, expressed his gratitude for Limpo’s concern for MSME products.

He also affirmed the willingness of the ministry to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture to support the development of the country.

“Collaboration to purchase domestically produced products is necessary to strengthen Indonesia’s development in the future,” Masduki said.
