FBKT Head Teacher Prof. Wan Mohd Faizal Wan Ishak said UMK in collaboration with Magica Wisdom planted 200,000 organically grown black ginger seedlings without using chemical fertilizers.

He said the plant has great market potential besides being a species of medicinal plant in the ginger family and has been used as a traditional medicine for centuries.

“Among the findings are its ability to increase the activity of the body’s cell metabolism, anti-cancer, relaxation of blood vessels, heart protection, increase in sexual activity, nerve protection, anti-allergic and anti-bacterial.

“Our studies have also shown that black ginger confers health protection and energetic strength and we are still conducting extensive research to understand the reaction mechanism that occurs in the body,” he said in a statement. today.

Wan Mohd Faizal said that black ginger has a very high content of two active ingredients i.e. bioflavonoids and methoxyflavone which are absolutely necessary for the human body to repair the system and it has fast repairing effect.

“It is quite difficult to get black ginger in Malaysia and this is one of the factors that the plant is not as popular as other herbs.

This plant is native to Thailand and Cambodia and is usually imported from foreign countries such as Thailand, Taiwan and India.

“Therefore, the price is quite expensive and can reach RM500-1000 per kilogram, apart from its cultivation in Malaysia which is still quite limited as it is susceptible to disease,” he said. — Bernama
